Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce Coaches Appointed to Help Unlock South of Scotland's Entrepreneurial Talent

The Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its appointment as delivery partner along with Strawberry Lemonade Events for the Berwickshire and Tweeddale regions, as part of a new initiative to support entrepreneurship across the South of Scotland. This significant appointment forms part of the “Pathways Pilot” programme, which aims to help women and under-represented groups in the region to start and grow their businesses.

A total of nine specialist enterprise coaches have been appointed, covering ten areas across the South of Scotland. The Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce will play a crucial role in delivering this support to aspiring entrepreneurs in Berwickshire and Tweeddale, represented by coaches Lorna Jackson-Hall and Sian Downes.

Unlocking Entrepreneurial Potential

The Pathways Pilot will run until 31 March 2025 and is backed by an investment of up to £2.6 million from the Scottish Government. The programme will provide tailored advice, mentorship, and practical support to help individuals—particularly women and other under-represented groups—bring their business ideas to life.

This initiative comes at a critical time for the South of Scotland, with a growing focus on supporting local entrepreneurship and inclusive growth. Participants will have the chance to work closely with enterprise coaches, gaining invaluable guidance on how to overcome challenges and successfully launch their ventures.

In being awarded this exciting project it reiterates the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce’s role in fostering entrepreneurial talent in the region and the broader effort to encourage inclusive economic growth in the South of Scotland.

Join the Pathways Programme

Budding entrepreneurs are encouraged to get in touch and join the Pathways programme. This pilot offers an unparalleled opportunity for individuals to receive one-on-one guidance from industry experts, and to benefit from the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to start their businesses.

Scottish Government Support

The Pathways Pilot is part of a broader effort by the Scottish Government to support entrepreneurial activity across the country. A Pathways Fund will also be launched, offering grants of up to £1k, and ongoing support services for those at the beginning stages of their entrepreneurial journey.

The initiative is in line with the Scottish Government’s commitment to addressing the under-representation of women and other groups in entrepreneurship, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to succeed in the world of business.
