A diverse group of professionals gathered this week at the Borders Distillery in Hawick for the latest Borders businesses networking event hosted by the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce (SBCC). The event highlighted the strength of the Borders business community and provided a platform for collaboration, discussion, and feedback.
The Chamber, which has experienced significant growth this year, has been actively engaging with businesses of all sizes to understand their needs. This ongoing dialogue has led to the development of a new membership programme, set to launch next month.
Roz Haughey, Membership Manager for SBCC, shared her thoughts on the event:
“It was fantastic to be hosted by the Borders Distillery and to engage in valuable discussions about how businesses across the region can support each other.”
“This networking event, open to members and non-members alike, was all about enhancing the vision, voice, and visibility of companies in the Scottish Borders, regardless of their sector or size.”
“These events provide a great opportunity for people to share stories, explore common challenges, and identify solutions. They also help us as a Chamber understand how we can elevate their profile locally and nationally, working with the national Chamber network, Scottish and UK governments, and other organisations to bring tangible benefits and support to the Borders.”
“It was particularly encouraging to see businesses offering their expertise to support each other. Events like this are a testament to the power of collaboration, and we’re looking forward to more networking opportunities in the future. A big thank you to the Borders Distillery for hosting us!”
Upcoming Events and Membership Launch
The Chamber’s next networking opportunity is the Christmas Get Together, taking place on Wednesday, 4th December (12-2pm) at Clint Lodge, St Boswells. This event is open to members and non-members from businesses of any size.
Following a year of research including feedback from members and businesses across the Borders, the SBCC will also unveil its new membership packages on 2nd December 2025, with formal launch at the Christmas Get Together.Roz Haughey explained the rationale behind the new packages:
“Our old membership structure, based on employee size, no longer reflects the needs of our members. The new packages – Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum offer tailored benefits that better suit the diverse businesses in our Borders community.”
“From entry-level access to essential networking and support, to premium packages offering exclusive marketing opportunities and tailored business advice, our new packages ensure every member can maximise their benefits. Enjoy access to invaluable resources, events, and a supportive community that champions a business’s success. Whether they’re a start-up or an established enterprise, business or organisation, our new membership tiers look to empower Businesses to connect, grow, and thrive in the vibrant Scottish Borders business ecosystem.”
