Top awards come to the Borders
Baddingsgill Farm near West Linton has been recognised at the Scotland's Finest Woods Awards 2024.
At a ceremony at the Scottish Parliament, the farm took the trophy in the Farm or Croft Woodlands Category. The judges described the 4000 acre farm as a fine example of diversified land management, where the farm woodlands were managed in an exemplary fashion - and noted the "commitment, enthusiasm, knowledge and experience" of the Marshall family, who have held Baddingsgill since 1912.
Selkirk High School were also represented at the awards, receiving the Crown Estate Scotland Schools' Trophy in the Schools and Early Years category.
Meanwhile, a Borders tradesman is celebrating being named the Best Apprentice Plumber for 2024. George Gannicott from Hawick, who is in the third year of his apprenticeship with A Thomson Plumbing & Heating Services, was assessed throughout the year on his course and employment.
The 29-year-old was praised for "his comprehensive knowledge, adept technical skills and professionalism".
