The gift card is a new way of ensuring that money in our community stays local for longer. The idea is simple, once consumers sign up and choose the amount of money to be added to the card, this can only be spent within the Scottish Borders, at businesses who accept the card as a method of payment.
For a business, signing up is easy and once your business is registered, you will be listed on the www.scotlandgiftslocal.com website. Each business will receive a marketing pack with signage for display on the premises and files for use on social media and websites, so consumers will be aware of where they can use the card as a payment method.
There is nothing more to do as the Gift Card is a prepaid Mastercard and payments are received via your existing merchant services agreement.
The Scotland Loves Local team will be in the Scottish Borders between the 20th and 22nd of September, visiting businesses, answering questions, and signing people up. Alternatively, you can sign up here:
The more businesses that sign up to accept the card, the more money stays within the Scottish Borders. We hope to see your business listed soon.
In the coming weeks, Scottish Borders Council will officially launch the Scottish Borders’ Scotland Loves Local Gift Card and would like to invite you to sign up as a participating business.
